For example:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>?utm_source=googlemaps&amp;utm_medium=organic<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This tells analytics platforms exactly where the traffic came from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You add this directly to the website field in your listing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"542\" height=\"339\" src=\"https:\/\/daveashworth.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/website_url.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1835\" srcset=\"https:\/\/daveashworth.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/website_url.png 542w, https:\/\/daveashworth.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/website_url-300x188.png 300w, https:\/\/daveashworth.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/website_url-150x94.png 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 542px) 100vw, 542px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From that point on, every click from the listing is clearly attributed:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"975\" height=\"808\" src=\"https:\/\/daveashworth.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/utms.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1836\" srcset=\"https:\/\/daveashworth.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/utms.png 975w, https:\/\/daveashworth.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/utms-300x249.png 300w, https:\/\/daveashworth.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/utms-150x124.png 150w, https:\/\/daveashworth.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/utms-768x636.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 975px) 100vw, 975px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_This_Shows_in_GA4\"><\/span>What This Shows in GA4<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In GA4, &#8220;googlemaps \/ organic&#8221; will appear in your source\/medium report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In my case, this showed 167 sessions from 149 users:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"694\" height=\"256\" src=\"https:\/\/daveashworth.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/ga4.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1837\" srcset=\"https:\/\/daveashworth.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/ga4.png 694w, https:\/\/daveashworth.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/ga4-300x111.png 300w, https:\/\/daveashworth.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/ga4-150x55.png 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 694px) 100vw, 694px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Already, that\u2019s a very different picture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_This_Shows_in_Search_Console\"><\/span>What This Shows in Search Console<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In Google Search Console, you can filter by page URL containing \u201cgooglemaps\u201d to see the queries driving impressions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For my listing, this showed:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>14,800 impressions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>338 keywords<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"783\" height=\"805\" src=\"https:\/\/daveashworth.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/gsc.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1838\" srcset=\"https:\/\/daveashworth.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/gsc.png 783w, https:\/\/daveashworth.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/gsc-292x300.png 292w, https:\/\/daveashworth.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/gsc-146x150.png 146w, https:\/\/daveashworth.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/gsc-768x790.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 783px) 100vw, 783px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Again, far more insight than the Business Profile dashboard suggests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The point here isn\u2019t that Google\u2019s data is &#8220;wrong&#8221;, it&#8217;s that it&#8217;s incomplete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you care about properly measuring performance, and making decisions based on data, you need to control the tracking yourself rather than relying on the dashboard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you&#8217;d like help setting this up, or improving how your listing performs in the first place, feel free to get in touch<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Google Business Profile provides performance insights &#8211; but they rarely tell the full story.
